What is the weather like?

From Spring through Fall months, Nootka Sound has very enjoyable weather with plenty of sunshine and calm days with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius in the height of Summer. Nootka Sound gets approximately half the rainfall and stormy weather of the northern regions of the Coast. Great weather always makes a fishing trip more enjoyable!

Do you only fish for Salmon?

During your stay you will get to experience not only Trophy Salmon fishing but also fishing for Halibut, ling cod and red snapper.

Why does it matter what type of boats your lodge uses?

We operate Grady white cruisers so we can fish where the fish are. If the fish are 20 miles off shore we go and catch them we don't just fish along the rocks around the lodge. These boats are capable of running to remote untouched fishing grounds with all the comforts - private washroom, full cover canvas and comfortable seats.

What do we do with our fish?

Your guide does the dirty work. All of your fish will be bled and immediately put on ice in our insulated fish boxes they will then be filleted and professionally vacuum sealed and frozen ready for you to take home. We guarantee that all of our guests leave with the highest quality fish possible!!

Will I get sea sick?

It is highly unlikely you will get sea sick we fish calm protected waters as much as possible and venture out into the offshore waters when the weather is calm. If you are prone to motion sickness bring some dramamine, gravol or bonaime. The ear patches also work well. These products can be bought at any local pharmacy.

Will we get to eat any fresh seafood?

You will get to experience a fresh BC seafood dinner during you your stay at the lodge and there will be fresh seafood appetizers daily.

Will we see any wildlife?

Expect to see bears, whales, eagles, seals, sea lions, dolphins, and an abundance of marine birds.

Is all the tackle, bait, and equipment necessary to go fishing included in the price?

All rates include everything except fishing licenses, alcohol, and fish processing.

Can we purchase a BC fishing licence at the lodge?

You can buy a fishing licence at the lodge or you can order one online before you arrive.
