May - September

Halibut fishing is steadily becoming more popular and Nootka Sound's outside waters have plenty of them. Generally in May and June, the halibut move into shallow waters, off Vancouver Island providing an excellent opportunity to catch these tasty "chickens of the sea".

In May and June, we offer a shoulder season fishing package targeting bottom fish and salmon. Halibut are plentiful in the 12 - 25 lb range and common 25 - 50 lb range. Every season, halibut 100+ lbs come to our dock. Lingcod and snapper are abundant as well.

Nootka Sound BC Halibut Fishing

In July, August, and September, we incorporate bottom fishing for halibut, lingcod, and snapper into our BC guided salmon fishing trips. Heading offshore for an exciting day of bottom fishing makes for a sensational seafood smorgasbord at home.

A typical offshore fishing day will often include viewing of the grey, humpback or killer whales as well as sea lions, porpoises, seals and sea otters.

Not just Trophy Salmon fishing - during your trip you will experience catching Halibut ling cod and red snapper.
