The outside waters of Nootka Island are teeming with a variety of bait fish making Nootka Sound irresistible feeding grounds for trophy BC Salmon and Halibut.

You'll experience light tackle angling for trophy size, ocean-bright BC Chinook salmon and aggressive Coho salmon. If you like, you can also do battle with monster halibut and bottom fish!

Large runs of feeder and migrating Chinook Salmon destined for areas south of Nootka Sound BC pass by in the offshore waters of Nootka Sound. Our 23 -26ft covered Grady White cruisers have the capability of running offshore to target these ocean-bright, hard fighting aggressive Pacific salmon.

The large, local run of BC Chinook salmon usually begins to show sometime between late June and early July. This run steadily builds within Tlupana Inlet throughout the summer with the bulk of the run sitting in front of the Conuma River by late August. These trophy BC Chinook salmon can be caught all summer long in the calm waters of Tlupana Inlet - right in front of our BC Salmon fishing lodge!

Coho salmon are abundant in Nootka Sound BC from May through September and have been caught up to 27 pounds. These feisty, acrobatic fish are lots of fun on light tackle. When the opportunity presents itself, we use buck tail flies right on the surface, trolled in the prop wash. This is must try West coast Vancouver Island experience!

Methods of BC Salmon fishing

Most of our BC salmon sport fishing consists of light tackle trolling with top quality electric downriggers as well as some surface fishing with small weights or no weight at all - just a bucktail fly or artificial lure. Our BC fishing guides have a wide selection of proven tackle and pride themselves on some of their proven hand-made lures, spoons and flies. This makes the BC Sport fishing experience that much better!

Our entire lodge boat fleet is made up of 23 -26 ft top quality, clean well-maintained Grady White or equivalent covered cruisers. Our boats are designed for safety, comfort, and performance. Hard work and expertise has gone into the outfitting of all of our boats.
